Salesforce Interview Questions & Answers Book is now available!
Grab NowA step-by-step guide to Apex Triggers. In case you are entirely new to Apex Triggers then this is the go to course. This course covers all the basics and does a great job in making sure you have solid foundation in Apex Triggers.
Start here if you can read a simple Apex class but have not yet written a trigger. This introductory series explains the trigger model before you move on to larger automation designs. Work through the episodes in order so that trigger events and context variables make sense together.
Use a Salesforce Developer Edition or another practice org where you can create objects, records and Apex. Review basic variables, collections and DML first. You do not need a production org, and practice changes should stay separate from customer data.
Build a small trigger on a practice object and explain which event runs it. Try an insert and an update, inspect the available context variables and record what changes. Then try several records together and identify which parts of your approach need bulk testing.
Use the syllabus below to choose your next lesson. Pause as you go, reproduce the example, and check your result before continuing. This makes the lesson a practice session you can repeat, rather than a video you only watch once.
